Rory D. Rankin specializes in intellectual property matters with an emphasis in patent procurement and counseling. Mr. Rankin has extensive experience in the computing and electrical arts, including computer network hardware and software, hardware and software security, network security, data backup and protection, application software, middleware and operating systems, power management, multimedia content management, storage system hardware and software, virtual memory systems, video distribution systems, computer system architecture and design, graphics processors and processing, microprocessor architecture, network and communication systems and protocols, integrated circuits, distributed computing, and parallel processing.
Mr. Rankin received a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Computer Science from the University of Texas at El Paso where he served as president of Computer Science Honor Society Upsilon Pi Epsilon, Vice President of the Student Chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and was a member of numerous honor societies. Subsequently, Mr. Rankin earned a Master of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Rankin received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from The University of Texas School of Law.
Prior to his work as an attorney, Mr. Rankin was employed as an engineer and worked for IBM in the Personal Systems Division Network Software, and for Motorola at the Somerset Design Center - the IBM, Motorola, and Apple Alliance - where he worked on integrated processor development and chip set design. Mr. Rankin has counseled on the procurement and protection of both patents and trademarks in numerous countries around the world.
Mr. Rankin is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the Texas State Courts.
